Soller Plans 350 Residential Units in Glasgow City Centre

Soller Group, has submitted a Proposal of Application Notice to Glasgow City Council for 350 residential apartments at 144 Port Dundas Road.

Designed by Glasgow-based Mosaic Architecture + Design, the design proposal includes a light filled landscaped courtyard development of 350 contemporary apartments for professionals and families living in the City. A mix of one and two bedroom suites, the development will feature roof terraces, an amenity space, a retail unit and a bike store.

Currently a vacant site, 144 Port Dundas Road sits to the north of the City Centre and fronts onto Port Dundas Road and Milton Street. It is close to the M8, and within walking distance to Glasgow’s shops and restaurants, Buchanan Galleries, Queen Street Station, Cowcaddens Subway Station and Glasgow Caledonian University.

Nick Treadaway, founder and CEO of Soller Group said: “Our submission of a Proposal of Application Notice for 350 apartments aimed at families and professionals will revitalise a vacant site at 144 Port Dundas Road. The apartments are designed with city living in mind, a mix of one and two bedroom apartments and are within walking distance to the City’s shopping, leisure and transport links. As we recover from recent events, the City Centre population will play an important part in contributing to Glasgow’s recovery and local economy.”

Neil Haining, Director of Mosaic, added: “The development has been carefully designed in response to the site’s immediate context and the surrounding townscape in this part of the City and provides a new urban block with appropriate scale and quality of materials.

“The development consists of two high rise blocks to the East and West of the site with lower level accommodation, which reinforce the existing street pattern, allowing daylight to penetrate into the central Public Square. The primary entrance is off the Port Dundas Road which leads into amenity space on ground floor as well as roof terraces and will be designed to ensure they are used as part of the everyday life of the building.”

Soller Group is active in Glasgow, having completed a 301-bed student accommodation building in Glasgow City Centre now let to the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, which is fully occupied and also having recently submitted a planning application for 270,000 sq.ft. Phase 2 of its Grade A Carrick Square office development
